Authentic Oneonta — Downtown Revitalization Initiative
After receiving a $10 million dollar grant from Governor Cumo for Downtown Revitalization, Oneonta has big plans for the big monies to spur economic development. Project plans consist of strengthening small business support by working with owners and tenants to renovate, improve and upgrade properties. While also creating new apartments and retail space by improving Mixed-Use development, in particular Westcott Parking Lot. Plans also include the expansion of Market Street opportunities, Mohawk Valley Food and Innovation Center, small scale manufacturing, incubator and makerspace. Not only is it Otsego Now mission to strengthen and expand downtown Oneonta, we want to connect it as well. Connect streets, public walkways, plazas, art, culture, and people.
The plan will lay the foundation for the future of the municipality with a community vision, updated zoning ordinances, and reviews of potential “shovel-ready” commerce park sites.
Otsego Now has established the Agricultural Microenterprise Program, a $170,000 fund making available grants of up to $35,000 to assist small businesses (with five or fewer employees including all owners) in financing the costs of starting or expanding their agriculture-related business operations.
Otsego Now is partnering with Hartwick College to fund an initial review of access options and energy needs for the school’s proposed START-UP NY development site.
